On June 8, 2019 23 cyclists from the Journey of Hope TransAmerica team cycled through the Walla Walla Valley and stopped by the Lillie Rice Center Administration Offices for a dinner and friendship visit.
This group is one of three Journey of Hope teams traveling from Seattle, WA to Washington DC in support of enhancing the lives of thousands with disabilities through grant funding and community engagement.
The team consists of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity members from across the country. The team cycles an average of 75 miles per day, and each cyclist has raised a minimum of $6,000 on behalf of persons with disabilities, totaling more than $650,000. A portion of these funds are donated to Lillie Rice Center in grant funding.
Lillie Rice Center employees hosted a tiki taco bar, which was well recieved from the cyclists after the hard miles traveled from Yakima, WA.
The cyclists visited, toured the facility, shared stories from their travels and home towns, and played games with staff and employees of Lillie Rice Center.
Thank you Pi Kappa Phi for your support, and assisting Lillie Rice Center in your vision of creating a community where the abilities of all people are recognized and valued!
